This research analyses strategic practice and discourse in cultural-creative organizations in the Dutch city of Utrecht, between 2010 and 2012. The main question of this research is how deliberations on culture, creativity and business structure strategic discourse and practice in cultural and creative organizations in the midst of current institutional change. The motivation for this research is based on the expectation that the present dynamics in culture-political discourse, with its stress on cultural entrepreneurship and the creative industries, effect artistic and economic strategic deliberations in organizations. However, little is known about the exact working of this deliberation in organizational practice as such. Johan Kolsteeg is teacher and researcher at HKU University for the Arts in Utrecht. He studied musicology and was programmer and producer of concerts in the field of contemporary and classical music. He worked as editor in chief classical music for NCRV radio and television, and was involved in the development of several multi-media concepts. He is co-founder of Monteverdi.tv and co-author of a textbook on project management in the cultural context. Johan is connected to the LinC program for leadership in the cultural sector and expert for the European Commission, Executive Agency Culture, Education and Audiovisual. He is the founder of Utrecht Arts Management Press: www.uamp.nl.
