For ages humans have been in search of ideas to improve life. In the 18th century creativity was recognized as a powerful tool. It is ideas that give meaning, enlighten and influence our perception. Ideas direct our actions and our imagination. Our reality is only one way of seeing the world, usually supported by social consensus. Socialization convinces us that the one reality we agree upon defines the limits of the world. They may make us believe that the boundaries of our world are the boundaries of the possible. Thousands of years ago in China, a group of people (= taoists) took a different viewpoint. They imagined that the less you force a situation the more effective you’ll be. We cannot hope to persistently control the chaotic world. Instead, take each situation as it comes, and act in step with the unique conditions. Their ideas evolved around the DAO, which can be translated as ‘the way’ or journey. Taoist theory and zen practice have inspired this DAO of Creativity. It offers in 81 chapters hints, ideas, insights to look differently. To help you find and develop new talents; …create a meaningful life and leave the places where you have been better than you found them.
