Belgian beer is probably the best in the world. Most of us are familiar with many Belgian beers and many of us have actually tried several of them. But what do all these beers really taste like? What gives them their particular colour and aroma? How can we identify which ingredients we truly appreciate in a beer?
This book provides all the answers. For the first time ever, it maps 250 of the best Belgian beers on the basis of a thorough scientific analysis by a large, trained panel of tasters. Professor Kevin Verstrepen and Doctor Miguel Roncoroni tested and tasted 250 Belgian beers in their lab at the University of Leuven's Institute for Beer Research and VIB Centre for Microbiology. This unique dataset resulted in the first fact-based atlas of Belgian beers, a roadmap that shows how every beer compares to others, allowing readers to understand and explore the marvellous world of Belgian beer and encouraging them to discover new beers based on similarities to their personal favourites.
