Witnesses of words

Witnesses of Words is a photo book about vintage microphones, their stories and their development. It is also about microphones at defining 20th century events with defining 20th century people, and the words those microphones were witness to. Words that shaped our world. 
The result: a short history of both the mikes and the past century. 
Featured in the book are over 440 microphone types; 130 different brands. 
While photographers went out of their way to keep microphones out of their pictures, here you can really look at them and enjoy the variety of beautiful designs. With their stunning looks and fascinating tales to tell it is a wonder there are not more books on the subject. Undiscovered territory just waiting for anyone to enjoy. 

The author:
Marco C. van der Hoeven, former musician and singer, has been collecting microphones for over twenty years and has done tons of research on the subject. He has been using microphones since the early Seventies. Today, as a sound engineer, he still does and is forever fascinated by their many aspects.
All microphones are from the collection of the author.

Het luxe boek is Engelstalig, telt 136 pagina's, met foto's van meer dan 400 microfoons en een bonte schakering aan bekende mensen, zoals Winston Churchill, Groucho Marx, Marilyn Monroe en Che Guevara. 

Alle microfoons komen uit de eigen collectie van de auteur en worden gepresenteerd met interessante feiten, beeldmateriaal en achtergronden.
