Music is probably not the first thing that comes to mind when you think about Amsterdam. Be honest. But, though it might not be the capital of music by any measure, it is a capital. And it is filled to the brim with music. There are great musicians and wonderful stages for them to play on, quirky bars and cafes for wacky audiences and a world class conservatory for anyone who wants to learn. It is home to instrument builders and niche traders, the unconventional Pianola museum, the traditional Perlee Organ keeper and passionately purposeful fans such as Beppie, who brings tea and cookies to a choirs practice she doesn't sing with. From the Bimhuis to the Paradiso, and a whole bunch of little undiscovered spots and spaces in between, the city is like well-trodden trail with some surprising secrets still left to discover.
