Inside The New Shopping Bag tells the story of SUSAN BIJL and highlights the people who use their products daily. Written in the style of the brand’s interview blog, where SUSAN BIJL engages with inspiring individuals about their work, life and connection to their bags, the book features anecdotes about lost bags, bags filled with onigiri and Japanese porn, stories of long-term bag use, and insights from, among others, designer Mette Hay, artist Kim Gordon, actress Loes Luca, author Ernest van der Kwast and artist Bertjan Pot.
As part of its 25-year retrospective, the book includes an interview with Susan, an overview of every colour combination ever made, Jan Bijl's iconic photography, and reflections on the brand’s success and the future of the bag. Overall, the book captures the brand's thoughtful ethos, highlighting the representation of life and culture that is at its core.
