The diminished trust of stakeholders and business leaders in the classical economic view of governing organizations led to initiatives such as Corporate Social Responsibility and Triple Bottom Line. The business value concept goes beyond those initiatives and is relevant in a context where organizations become more and more complex through globalization, international teams, collaboration with partners and unused ideas, knowledge and capabilities. A high level of business quintessence and a good balance between abilities and capabilities are a prerequisite for achieving maximum business value and becoming a high value organization. A high value organization is able to accelerate beyond the traditional cyclical business outlook.
The above-mentioned business value and business quintessence value notions have been tested in the field via two surveys among forty extended leadership team members and CFO's in one organization and among senior executives of forty organizations in the Dutch Society.
