Shame is born not so much from admitting our faults, but from knowing that we should make a change and still refuse to do so. That is at least the proper way to feel ashamed. Just like in the animal kingdom, our body and mind have been programed to be as efficient as possible with the available resources. With that in mind, it is not a strange phenomenon when most people would rather sleep than work and avoid doing what they should. Assuming you do want to change your life however and achieve some of your dreams, I am going to ask you: What have you done lately to change your life, to the direction you would like it to go? Probably you do go to school to get a degree after some time. Or you have some occupation which is not exactly what you want but which brings money in your pocket. But is that all? Is that all you can do?
