Kasper Andreasen's images explore the traces that enable the development of a painting practice influenced by photography, writing, the materiality of paint, and informal gestures. These are accompanied by an essay that tells the story of a character who visits a mysteriously destroyed town called Forest Gate, which proves impossible to comprehend visually. In combination, the essay and images question the search for an ordered image in terms of materiality, composition, and framing.
