'When he was thirty-five, Joost met Kathleen, the love of his life. He wanted to have children with Kathleen but it did not happen. In the phase that Joost went through, it seemed like no one was going through the same fate. There was nobody he could tell his story to, with whom he could share experiences, and no man with whom he could just share his frustrations about the fertility treatment. He decides to write down his thoughts and feelings from his everyday life without nappies and bottles but with injections and painful examinations. He did this first and foremost for himself. As his writings progressed, it became a book. A book of situations that will undoubtedly be recognised by involuntarily childless fathers. A story told with humour that shows that a life without children may appear empty at first, but does not have to be so. Joost gives a happy interpretation to his childless existence. This makes the book a practical guide for childless fathers and prepares them for the medical circuit and for everything that follows it.'
